If you are looking for a way to personalize Internet Explorer, one method is to customize the Title Bar. Here we look at a simple registry hack that will get the job done. Also be forewarned that any mistake in editing the registry may corrupt the registry and cause serious problems in the operating system.

Ways to change Internet Explorer Title

The following contains steps that tell you how to modify registry for changing the Internet Explorer Window title:
  • The first thing we need to do is open the Registry by typing regedit into the Search box in the Start Menu and hit Enter.
  • Choose User Configuration, Windows Settings, Internet Explorer Maintenance, Browser User Interface, and double click Browser Title.
  • Activate Customize Title Bars, and type something in there. Doesn't matter what. Let's type: QWERTY. Click Okay.
  • Fire up Reg editor. (start, run, regedit)
  • With the Registry open, navigate to HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main. Then create a new String Value and name it Window Title.
  • Change this key to anything you like and exit regedit.
  • Restart or launch Internet Explorer and you will now see your new text in the Title Bar.
  • If you want to change it to something else, just go in and modify the Value data.
